about mRS. Mcfarlane!
Hello! My name is Amanda McFarlane (she/her), and I am so happy to be the library media specialist at MSJH.
Before becoming a library media specialist I was a teacher at Franklin Middle School for ten years (2003-2013). I taught reading, writing, and AVID (a college prep course). I believe my years teaching were invaluable to my transition to a school library media specialist. I know what it's like to teach students, be in front of a classroom, and, most importantly, I understand the need for quality collaboration between teachers and the school librarian.
I resigned from FMS in 2013 to pursue my dream of becoming a library media specialist. I spent two years being an on-campus student at UIUC's Graduate School of Library and Information Sciences. During this time I spent one semester as a Graduate Assistant at the UIUC Undergrad Library, and the 2014-2015 school year as the Grad Assistant at Uni High School in Urbana. These experiences readied me for my current position, and I feel confident that my skill set is perfect for the MSJH Library.
I am married to a wonderful man from Scotland, and we have three beautiful children. The students of MSJH will hear me bragging about them, and they will also hear me talking about my favorite books, TV shows, movies, and music. My number one goal as a librarian is to marry the perfect book with the student, and reader's advisory is my passion. I also hold collaboration with teachers as a very important part of my work, and I hope the students not only see me as a librarian but also a teacher who can help them with research, projects, and other school work.
I am so excited to be here! I honestly believe that I have the BEST job in the world. I LOVE being a librarian, collaborating with teachers in all subject areas, and helping students find the perfect book for enjoyment or research. I wake up in the morning HAPPY AND EXCITED to go to work...How many people can say that??? Stop by, say hi, stay and read for awhile. If you want to know even more about me, check out my blog or websites below. Come by soon!
PS--The books pictured above are by one of my favorite authors, John Bellairs, and I collected them between the ages of 10 and 13. I have these all proudly displayed and maintained in my personal library at home. We also have newer copies, that aren't as weathered, available for checkout in the MSJH Library. I hope you have an author you love as much as I love John Bellairs!

ABOUT MRS. HINEBAUGH!
My name is Kristina Hinebaugh and I am the Mahomet-Seymour Junior High library assistant. I started my career in education at the University of Illinois working at the Institute of Aviation. I taught both in the classroom and in the airplane. When they closed that department, I chose to continue in the field of education at MSJH in 2015.
I live in Mahomet with my husband, 2 kids, and 1 crazy dog. I enjoy taking my dog for walks, planting flowers in the summer, watching crime tv shows, and reading mystery and crime novels. I didn’t always enjoy reading. When I was a kid, I didn’t like to read because no one helped me find books that I would like. I’m happy to be assisting in the library so I can find the genre of book that you will enjoy! |

Relish & Beyond I LOVE graphic novels. For one of my GSLIS classes I was able to research what has become my favorite GN and create a website about it. Awesome fun! |
